About Washington-Reid Preschool
Washington-Reid became a preschool in 2018 with five general education preschool classes and two special education preschool classes. In 2019 Washington- Reid became fully occupied as a Preschool Center housing five general education preschool programs that operate under the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) and seven special education class based programs, with resource teachers based out of Washington-Reid to service special education preschool students in the community.
What Makes Our School Unique
We are the only Preschool Center in Prince William County Schools that only services preschool students within our building. Washington-Reid houses two preschool programs, Virginia Preschool Initiate (VPI) and students with Developmental Delays that require services under Special Education. Washington-Reid is a nurturing and supportive environment for young children and families. The staff is highly knowledgeable in the areas of child development and special education, and is committed to helping each child maximize his or her potential in both school and the home environments.
VPI program children are accepted according to enrollment criteria followed by Preschool Program department to ensure that children with the highest need receive priority. Students who receive services from our Special Education program have demonstrated a delay in their development. These students are first evaluated by PWCS Child Find office to identify the areas of delay. An individual Education Plan (IEP) is developed to determine the appropriate program for each child and to identify educational goals to address the identified delay.
