Washington-Reid Preschool Center was invited to participate in National Young Readers Day by Gina Parr the Outreach Liaison for Smart Beginnings Greater Prince William. Smart Beginnings partnered with the Prince William Chamber to bring readers to schools across the region in honor of National Young Readers Day, which was on November 13, 2019. The students enjoyed having special visitors read to them.

The Smart Beginnings Greater Prince William chapter is a strong supporter of both early literacy and early childhood education. They wanted to celebrate the day with Washington-Reid Preschool in order to highlight the fact that public education in Virginia begins much earlier than kindergarten. This was a great opportunity to spotlight Washington-Reid Preschool Center with the business community in greater Prince William County. This is Washington Reid’s first year as a Preschool Center that promotes inclusion of the two preschool programs it serves, The Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) and Special Education programs.
