PLAY DOUGH

2 cups all purpose flour

1 cup salt

2 tablespoons cream of tartar

2 cups and 2 tablespoons water

2 tablespoons baby oil

Food Coloring

In heavy four-quart pot mix together flour, salt, and cream of tartar.  In separate bowl (I use a 4 cup measuring cup) mix together the water, baby oil, and a tube of food coloring (if you skimp on the food coloring the play dough will be a dull color.)  Mix liquid mixture into the four-quart pot of dry mixture.  Place on stovetop and cook over medium heat until mixture forms a ball and moves with your spoon (if in doubt that it is done, it is better to let the dough cook till slightly dry.)  Remove from heat and pour on a heat resistant surface and knead.

DO NOT PLACE PLAY DOUGH IN ZIP LOCK BAG UNTIL COMPLETELY COOLED or moisture will form in the bag from the warm dough and make the dough too sticky.
